Michael Harris

Kindergarten Teacher - Ningbo

I have had a interest in teaching English in China for some time now, and I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to fulfill this dream here. My dream to teach is due to the sacrifices of all of my international friends who studied at my home university in the United States.

When I saw first hand many of the difficulties my friends from countries like China and Korea faced, I was intrigued. If they could travel to the U.S. and be so far away from family and childhood friends, all for a chance to further their education: then what about me? What sacrifices could I make to help the students who aren’t able to travel to the U.S. to further their education? After I got advice on moving here to teach English, it would take me close to seven years before I was able to make it happen.

Along the way I have had a good amount of obstacles, rejection, and even ridicule from family for choosing this career path. And while I may have taken a few risks to get here, the rewards far out weigh anything I have experienced.
