Does HiredinChina have resources?

Firstly, have you viewed our city pages with useful organisations at the top of each page? At HiredinChina, we work with a myriad of professional rental agencies that can help show you apartments online or in person, giving you all the details in English. We have handpicked the best ones in each city to support your journey of teaching in China. They will be able to help you navigate the vast complexities of looking for an apartment and translate your contractual obligations.

However, this is not your only option, and there’s lots of support around you. From liaising with the school’s HR you’ll be working at, or asking us at HiredinChina, we can help organize a variety of opportunities to get you access to the right apartment. The benefit of working with the school’s HR is they’ll know the local area, commuting routes, and be able to offer a practical apartment without the financial bias of receiving your hard-earned deposit. Note, that typical rental services require payment every three months in China, and do not offer a contract for monthly payments. You may also have to pay a one-month deposit.

How can I be sure the location is correct?

Whilst your HR support will tell you where is best for the school, they may not have an international teacher’s perspective for socialising and other activities you may want to engage in. Therefore, we suggest joining a variety of WeChat groups so you can gain a larger consensus for where is best. Also, get in touch with the current teachers already present at your new school and learn what they think. Possibly, it is best for you to be between the airport and the school, as you like to see a new city each weekend. Maybe you want to be close to the shopping malls so you can quickly eat after finishing work. By consuming a variety of different perspectives, you’ll be able to educate yourself and make the right decision.
